The Youth In Action programme is a collaboration between the Rio Ferdinand Foundation and the UEFA Foundation to train and support young people to take a lead in tackling inequality and racism in their own communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland. The first project undertaken in this collaboration saw 15 young people from the Syrian refugee and asylum seeker community in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon council area undertake a youth leadership qualification and work with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s team and partner volunteers at NI Hyatt to deliver a family football and cultural event in Portadown in the summer of 2021. The Rio Ferdinand Foundation launched a short film to showcase and celebrate the exceptional work carried out by the group to date.

First Youth In Action Northern Ireland film launched — Rio Ferdinand Foundation
This is the first stage of an ongoing work with NI Hyatt and young people from all communities in the local authority area and will form the cornerstone of what we plan to be an ongoing programme of youth led citizenship and social action that will create a fairer and more inclusive society.
The event took place at Portadown Peoples Park and was supported locally by Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council, the local Police and Community Support Partnership and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
